Percussionist Jesus Diaz is widely respected and recognized by many musicians and fans for his contributions to the richness of an ever expanding Afro-Cuban musical genre worldwide. Jesus brings excellence to both his bands; Jesus Diaz y su QBA and Jesus Diaz Afro-Cuban Jazz All-Star Ensemble. His beautiful compositions and arrangements are beautiful, bold, dynamic and exciting – and will have you movin!
Born in Habana Cuba in 1962 and coming from a very musical family, Diaz was exposed to the art of music at a very young age, and started playing percussion when he was eight years old. Diaz arrived in the United States from Cuba in 1980 when he was 17 and launched his professional career in 1982.
Diaz is the leader and musical director of Jesus Diaz y su QBA, and has brought together an incomparable orchestra of accomplished artists whose talents combine Funk, Jazz, Rumba, Son and varied Afro-Cuban elements that are QBA!
Jesus Diaz y su QBA was founded in 1998, and was one of the first Timba bands in the United States. They released their first CD “Caramelo” under Bombo Music in 1999, and his second CD “Jardinero” in 2003. Fans can look forward to the newest CD Summer 2011!

This band brings the expertise of the best Bay Area Afro-Cuban Jazz musicians together performing the rich arrangements of Jesus Diaz.
