There is some amazing shows coming up in the month of September - I love the Bay Area this time of year - so get out and enjoy - and also please look for the highlights in RED as these are your chances to win FREE TICKETS OR FREE EVENTS!

Tonight you can catch John Santos 5th lecture in the series CRIOLLA Y SABROSA: LA MÚSICA PUERTORRIQUEÑA presented by Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, SFJAZZ and the Museum of African Diaspora. Tonight's discussion: New York: Little Puerto Rico held at the MoAD from 7 - 9pm - Tickets available here. Puerto Rican emigration to New York from the outset of the 20th century had an indelible effect on Puerto Rican music. New York-based companies such as Columbia, Victor, and Brunswick made most of the early recordings of Puerto Rican music in New York.

From Jazz to Soul you can catch Billy White and the Quiet Ones at the Red Poppy Art House tomorrow, Thursday Aug 30. Singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist-producer Billy White has had an interesting musical journey. An award-winning jazz pianist, Ethnomusicologist, collaborator with top-flight jazz musicians, and backup keyboardist for artists like Grammy nominees Maiysha Kai and Bilal, he has been writing, singing and playing original material to great acclaim at venues on both coasts. Fans eagerly await the release of his debut non-jazz EP, expected in September.
